What "heat-wise traceability" actually means

Every heat melted in a furnace gets a heat number. In a paper-based plant, that number appears at the top of the furnace log page — and then, separately, at the top of the AOD register page, and again on the CCM sheet, and again in whatever spreadsheet costing gets built from. Nothing forces those four records to agree, and nothing makes them easy to find together later.

Heat-wise traceability means the opposite: one heat number is the key that every reading from every stage attaches to automatically, so the full history of that heat — grade, tap temperature and weight, AOD chemistry, CCM cast status, and final cost — can be retrieved as a single report at any time.
